The Macromedia Flash file format (SWF) (pronounced "swiff") delivers vector graphics and animation over the Internet to the Macromedia Flash Player. For more information regarding Flash, please see our General FAQ.
The Macromedia Flash editor document file format (.fla) to be used in Macromedia's Flash authoring software. SWF files are exported from FLA files using the Macromedia Flash application.
Text-Osterone creates SWF files that are compatible with the Flash Player version 5 and up. If you are publishing Projector files, the Flash Player is not needed.
Text-Osterone creates FLA files that are compatible with the Macromedia Flash version Flash 5/MX/MX 2004/8.
The demo version of Text-Osterone duplicates all the letters in the output. The full paid version removes this limitation.
If running Macintosh OS 9.x try the following:
This is a problem that occurs on certain configuration of Windows 98/ME. In the Preferences of Text-Osterone, uncheck the "Use default font chooser" checkbox. The next time you try to change the font, you should be able to at least type in the name of the font you want to use.
The text options at the top of the Font Panel in OSX are not available for use in Text-Osterone. We would hide these options, but Apple has not given a way for developers to hide these options in Carbon applications.
Flash will not import .swf files in the entirety that contain Actionscript, audio, video, or movie clips. You must either use the loadMovie actionscript command to load the .swf file, or export as a .fla file from Text-Osterone which can then be directly opened in Flash.

In the Text tab, the Ext. Duration field is the number of seconds to keep the text on the screen before the FX Out effect begins.
You can submit .fla files containing the source for your text effect animations and we will try to add it to the program in an update. You can also point us to examples so we can see exactly the effect you are wanting, and we will do our best to add it to the program.
